This week Serena, Marc, Debbie, and I had a meeting on 10/19 to edit and create an abstract for submission to the AMSS conference. Serena also was able to find a way to incorporate a searchable algorithm in excel to be able to search specific ID characteristics for each individual harbor porpoise ID. We also have officially decided to use google slides for the catalog ID images. There was a pretty rough storm Wednesday afternoon, so we were not able to go out and do a HAPO survey. However the next day, Serena and I finished going over the abstract and submitted it to the AMSS portal. Me, Serena, and Kayla also made some good headway on our HAPO poster for the symposium this week.
This week in Lee's class I had the opportunity to drill into vertebrae beluga bones. First of all, that felt illegal and wrong to do. Second of all, I inhaled at least a neonate skeleton's worth of bone dust into my lungs. Third of all, I enjoyed it so much and learned some good handy drill skills. On Friday and Saturday I took a class with Taz Tally a local landscape photographer. I did enjoy his class, and learn how to use my camera app on my iphone more efficiently, but had a few issues with the teacher and the way the class was set up. Am I glad I did it? Eh. Would I do it again? No. There was a lot going on for me emotionally and mentally this week, so I did not get as much done as I would have liked, but progress isn't linear, and I think that this next week should be better.
